Atlantic board approves a slate of routine agreements, bids and athletic conference changes
Summary
At its April 8 meeting the Atlantic Community School District board approved the Iowa Western MOU for dual-enrollment, Hawkeye 10 conference realignment, vendor bids for trash/bread/milk, the high-school camera bid (capital fund), and several routine policy and graduating-class items; one 28E special-ed proposal and the budget-reduction target were tabled.
The Atlantic board on April 8 approved several consent and action items: the memorandum of understanding with Iowa Western Community College for 2026–27 dual-enrollment classes; Hawkeye 10 athletic conference membership changes (Carroll joining; several schools departing/realigning); vendor bids for trash (Cook's Sanitation), bread (Pan-O-Gold) and milk (Anderson Erickson); acceptance of a high-school camera/security bid funded from the district’s capital/36 (Apple) fund; and the second reading and approval of board policy 501.09 (attendance measurement and acceptable absence reasons).
Separately, the board approved the proposed graduating class pending final confirmation. A proposed 28E interlocal agreement to share a special-education administrative resource was discussed but tabled because cost and scope details were not yet provided.
Several of these approvals passed unanimously following motion and second; the board directed staff to circulate details and follow through on contractual steps where necessary.
