Coach Black and booster representatives described the opportunity: the high-school game would follow the major-league contest at Busch Stadium, use stadium facilities (dugouts and the video board) and be promoted as a bundled-ticket event. Tickets were described in the meeting as $27 each (including the MLB ticket, a hot dog and a drink plus admission to the high-school game). Each participating school was assigned responsibility for selling 700 tickets and would be liable for any unsold portion.
Officials acknowledged logistics and cost questions: travel and hotel options were discussed (charter-bus rental for a one-day trip would be costly; an overnight stay would add hotel expense). Parents, booster groups and the Chamber were identified as potential partners to sell blocks of tickets and obtain sponsorships. The board approved the trip by voice vote after a motion and second.
The district will follow up with the Cardinals’ office and local partners to finalize ticketing and promotion; Clarenda (the opponent) was reported to be voting on the same request in their own meeting.
