The Atlantic Community School District board elected Josh McLaren as board president and Jenny Jordan as vice president during its organizational meeting on Nov. 18, 2025, and appointed Lisa Jones as board treasurer and board secretary.
The newly seated trustees conducted customary organizational business after swearing in a new director and adjourning the retiring board. The board accepted the county auditor’s official election report, approved routine financial resolutions including the district’s depository statement for the prior fiscal year and designated Rolling Hills Bank ($25 million maximum) and Ashley ($5 million maximum) as authorized depositories.
Board members approved several personnel and extracurricular items earlier in the session, voting unanimously to allow an out-of-state swim meet on Dec. 4, 2025, and to hire a new vocal music teacher beginning in the second semester. The board also approved minutes from the Nov. 12 meeting.
Nominations for president and vice president were opened and closed according to board procedure. After nominations closed, a motion to elect Josh McLaren carried on roll call. McLaren then took the oath of office as board president. Jenny Jordan was later nominated and elected vice president and also was sworn in.
The board approved a resolution adopting its rules and procedures for conducting meetings (referencing board policy and Robert’s Rules), authorized Lisa Jones to pay regular bills between meetings as needed, and confirmed authorized signers for district checks that include the board president and the board secretary/treasurer.
The board designated the Atlantic News Telegraph as the district’s official newspaper of record and moved to appoint Aaylor and Cooney as legal counsel for the Atlantic Community School District; both motions passed on roll call.
The meeting included a formal recognition of outgoing member Christie Pellet, who was acknowledged by trustees for 18 years of service to the district. Pellet addressed the board, saying, “I continue to be humbled and impressed with this community, this school district and the way that they show up for our kids and our students.” Board members offered personal thanks for her institutional knowledge and mentorship.
