Residents and commissioners press Waterford police for more summer speed enforcement

At the June 8 Waterford Police Commission meeting, residents and a commissioner urged the department to increase enforcement against speeding and disruptive motorcycle and e-bike activity on Bloomingdale Road.
Public input included remarks from Helen Kwasniewski asking for a heightened law-enforcement presence to address speeding, safety concerns and noise associated with motorized two-wheelers. Commissioner R. Brule later asked the department to step up speed enforcement particularly in beach areas and the Ridgewood Park neighborhood as summer traffic increases.
The commission did not adopt a formal enforcement policy at the meeting; Commissioner Brule said he would revisit the issue at future meetings. The department’s patrol and traffic units are aware of the request and May patrol reports were received as part of the chief’s routine monthly reporting.
