Danvers outlines updated Housing Production Plan, aims to finalize this summer

Aaron Henry, Land Use & Community Services Director, told the Select Board the updated Housing Production Plan (HPP) provides long-term data, a needs assessment, development constraints analysis and a menu of strategies to better match the town’s housing stock to demographic changes.
Henry noted Danvers already exceeds the state’s 10% affordable-housing threshold but said the HPP focuses on planning tools—such as encouraging accessory dwelling units, pursuing deeper affordability below 80% of median income, and expanding ownership opportunities—rather than mandates. He said community and board feedback informed revisions and that a revised draft with technical clarifications has been posted. Henry said he aims to finalize the plan this summer after further discussion with the Planning Board and Select Board.
The Select Board did not take formal action on the HPP at the May 19 meeting; Henry said he would return with a final draft for a future vote.
