The board confirmed that $500,000 would remain in the stabilization fund and that the administration plans to seek an additional $1 million at the Special Town Meeting scheduled for May 18 to fully cover this fiscal year's special education obligations. On a motion by Select Board Member Gardner S. Trask III, seconded by Select Board Member Dutrochet Djoko, the board voted 4-0 to approve the $750,000 withdrawal.
The authorization directs the school administration to apply the funds to current special-education placement and service needs; the Select Board did not place additional conditions at the May 7 meeting. The Superintendent's request and the board's approval will be reflected in the town's upcoming financial reports and in materials for the Special Town Meeting.
