Resident asks Waterford police to review 'No Parking' sign at 12 Cedar Street

A Waterford resident asked the Police Commission on June 8 to remove a “No Parking” sign placed adjacent to 12 Cedar Street, saying the restriction is unnecessary and interferes with a driveway.
Brian Schuch submitted the request in public input and later provided a written letter to the commission asking for immediate removal. Schuch said a prior field evaluation had been performed by the traffic officer and described the sign as unnecessary given long-standing neighborhood parking patterns.
The commission’s traffic officer provided background that the sign was installed in June 2020 after several parking incidents, including one when an illegally parked vehicle prevented a fire truck from proceeding. The officer said he will follow up with Fire Services and Public Works to determine whether the sign should remain in place.
No formal vote was taken; the matter was placed for further review and follow-up.
