Des Moines County supervisors approved accounts-payable claims totaling $671,335.95 and a payroll reimbursement of $461.91 during the board’s March 17, 2026 work session.
The board also approved several personnel actions: hiring Carissa Mackey as a naturalist intern at a rate of $15 per hour effective March 30, 2026; a 48-month step increase for Marcus Nack, Environmental Education Manager, raising his salary from $60,503.79 to $62,375.04 effective March 19; and the completion-of-employment paperwork for correctional officer Peyton Krogmeyer, effective March 10. Each personnel item was moved, seconded and approved.
Chair presented a countywide rural resident cleanup program that will run Monday, April 6 through Saturday, June 6. The board listed acceptable items (metal items such as bicycles and roofing metal, cabinets, bed springs, swings, fencing; household items including sofas, chairs and mattresses; rugs and carpets; and items not suitable for donation). The county recycling center will accept refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, air conditioners and stoves. Residents must furnish proof of residency. The program is free until county credits are depleted.
The board approved the agenda items by motion and roll call. Transcript roll call responses recorded by the clerk show the named supervisors voting yes on motions called during the meeting. The board also approved the March 10, 2026 meeting minutes.
A brief work session on the floodplain development ordinance followed the meeting; staff are expected to continue that discussion in the session announced at adjournment.
