Des Moines County approves $394,591 in claims, payroll and two personnel actions

The board approved the accounts-payable package, which the chair said consisted of $297,277.11 in checks and $97,314.13 in wire transfers for a total of $394,591.24. A motion to approve carried on roll call.
The board also approved a payroll-reimbursement request of $417.56 on a separate motion.
In personnel actions, supervisors approved a one-year step increase for Cynthia Huffman, a receptionist, raising her hourly rate from $20.10 to $22.33 effective Feb. 24. The board approved hiring Crystal Boyer as a full-time correctional officer at a listed annual salary of $50,072.77 effective in February 2026.
The board approved minutes from its Jan. 27, 2026 meeting and confirmed Tom Williams's appointment to a three-year term on the Burlington North Bounds Levee and Drainage District following a motion and second.
The board heard several routine departmental updates earlier in the meeting, including reports from the health department, treasurer and regional planning office, but took no additional substantive fiscal or policy action beyond the votes listed above.
The meeting adjourned after committee reports and public input.
