The Tallmadge City Council set public hearings for two personnel-related ordinances for July 9, 2026.
Ordinance 2026-52, sponsored by Mayor Kilway, is scheduled for a public hearing at 6:01 p.m. and would amend and correct Ordinance 2026-43 by directing the Tallmadge Civil Service Commission to adopt rules and regulations that differ from general law for the hiring of police patrol officers, according to the committee report.
Ordinance 2026-55, also sponsored by Mayor Kilway and scheduled for a public hearing at 6:02 p.m., would establish the number of non-collective-bargaining employees by department and position and would change the parks and recreation superintendent position from classified to unclassified. The administration said the position was posted the day before the meeting after the incumbent submitted notice of resignation.
Council members did not take final action on either ordinance at the meeting; both were left for the advertised public hearings so residents may comment and the council may consider amendments before second or final readings.
