Union City approves seven Renaissance grant awards totaling $23,600 to fight blight

Union City Borough Council voted Aug. 27 to approve seven Renaissance Grant applications for the 2024–2025 grant period, authorizing $23,600 in grant awards toward projects totaling $60,606 in estimated costs. The motion to approve the recommended applications was made by Councilor Steadman, seconded by Councilor Osborn, and carried unanimously.
Manager Cindy Wells told Council there is currently $90,547.35 in Renaissance Grant funding available and recommended approval on the basis that the proposed improvements would help fight blight in the borough. Council did not request further information and approved the slate of seven applications as presented.
The approvals authorize awards from the Renaissance Grant fund; staff will notify applicants and process agreements consistent with available funding and program rules.
