Rolfe council reviews FY27 budget line items, flags 28E renewal with Pocahontas County

The Rolfe City Council met for a special budget workshop on Jan. 9, 2026, at the community center to review the proposed FY27 budget and discuss goals for the coming year. Mayor Stephanie Sindt called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and completed roll call; Council members Brent Stewart, Rob Jackson, Aaron Cox and Tammy Shimon were present, and Lana Pratt was absent. City Clerk Brandi Henderson and Treasurer De Sindergard were also in attendance.
During the workshop the council examined the budget line by line, covering line items numbered 001–011 and taking notes on priorities and goals. Council members discussed program and spending priorities but did not adopt the budget at the session; the meeting functioned as a workshop for review and direction to staff.
Council members also recorded that the city’s 28E intergovernmental agreement with Pocahontas County will require renewal with the county Board of Supervisors. The requirement was noted as an administrative follow-up rather than a decision taken at the workshop.
The council set a tentative date for the next budget meeting on Jan. 28, 2026. The workshop adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
