The Town Council voted to table proposed revisions to the vacancy-property fines and fee schedule, saying members want the full council present before adopting changes.
Council members said the town attorney had been asked to supply a revised fee schedule but was not available at the meeting. Members raised the prospect of increasing penalties for nuisance and neglected properties to better encourage owner compliance; one council member said they “want to be more aggressive” on enforcement. Because the schedule and legal wording were not available for a full review, the council moved to postpone consideration until a future meeting with full membership present.
The motion to table was made and carried with Adam moving and Brian seconding. No numeric vote tally was recorded on the transcript; the chair declared the motion approved and the matter will be revisited when the attorney or a full council quorum can consider the proposed fee schedule.
The delay preserves current penalties and gives staff and the town attorney time to prepare a full fee-schedule packet for council review. The council did not adopt any new fines or effective dates at this meeting.
