Baxter hears community visioning update; BEDCO and UNI collaboration discussed
Summary

Joyce Christenson and Brad Jensen provided the Baxter Community Visioning update during the March 9 meeting; the council received the presentation for discussion only and took no formal action. Separately, Bunny Churchill of BEDCO presented information about a University of Northern Iowa community collaboration program and councilmembers discussed hosting a joint community meeting with the city, the local school and nonprofit partners to support the initiative.
John Northrup of BEDCO offered public comment later in the meeting. Mayor Danny Kunkel acknowledged BEDCO's work and thanked participants. The presentations and comments were recorded as informational; the council did not vote on any new commitments or funding at this session.
Next steps: staff and BEDCO may coordinate on scheduling a joint community meeting and will report back to the council with proposed dates and details.
