Rowan council approves routine minutes and bills, OKs parking signs and building-permit follow-up

The Rowan City Council on March 2 approved routine consent items including the minutes of the February meeting and payment of bills. Councilmember David Eriksen moved to approve the minutes; multiple motions to pay bills and financial vouchers were approved unanimously.
Council approved purchase of four no-parking signs for the East and South sides of the water department to keep spaces available for employees and contractors and to aid snow removal; the motion by Chad Ketchum was seconded by Mark Bruns and passed unanimously.
On a building permit matter, council considered a deck application for 1020 Bingham Ave and directed the clerk to send a copy of the relevant ordinance to the applicant and request that corner flags be placed to indicate the intended footprint. The motion by Mark Bruns was seconded by Virgil Park and approved unanimously.
Other routine items recorded included a frozen septic line at the post office (the postmaster will park in front during winter to keep snow insulation over the system), no new abandoned properties or nuisance abatement actions, and standard maintenance updates. Council adjourned and announced the Tax Levy public hearing for March 23 at 6:00 p.m., special/public hearings at 6:30 p.m., and the next regular meeting on April 6, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.
