Silver Spring awards $1.87M park contract and $2.13M municipal-site contract

The Silver Spring Township Board of Supervisors approved two major construction contracts during its Nov. 19 meeting.
On a motion carried by the board, H&H General Excavating Company was awarded the Paul Walters Memorial Park Phase 2 construction contract in an amount not to exceed $1,869,420.05 as the lowest responsible bidder. The contract award was announced as part of the expense-approval portion of the meeting.
The board also awarded the Woods Drive Municipal Site and Compost Facility Phase 1 construction contract to Iron Eagle Excavating in an amount not to exceed $2,130,968.68 for site excavation and related work; that motion also carried.
Both contracts were recommended by Township Engineer Jonathan Robinson following the bid-opening process. The engineer noted that a geotechnical analysis of the municipal site was included in the bid package. Supervisors asked staff to monitor contractor performance during construction.
