Rowan Library director reports on programs; council approves $3,000 city contribution

Josephine Miller, director of the Rowan Library, presented a brief report on library programs and the proposed budget during the council’s Jan. 5 meeting. Miller said the library will continue Book Club, Fun Day and 'Blind Date with a Book,' discontinue its scrapbooking program and replace the fall fundraiser with a Hwy 3 Corridor rummage sale. The library added a tech table and book bins last year; Miller said a 'banned book' table generated discussion and interest.
Miller requested the same level of city contribution as previous years. Councilmember Mark Bruns moved to approve a $3,000 annual apportionment for the library; Chad Ketchum seconded and the motion was approved unanimously.
The approved apportionment maintains the library’s existing city support level; Miller will proceed with program planning under that budget.
