Commission backs parkland dedication fee in Chapter 166 updates; approves McBurney’s Second Addition plat

The Robins Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously Sept. 10 to recommend updates to Chapter 166 of the Robins Code of Ordinances that include a one-time parkland dedication fee applied to newly platted developments. The commission also recommended approval of the final plat for McBurney’s Second Addition to Linn County.
Commission member Jay Goodin described the proposed parkland dedication fee as a one-time charge on newly platted developments that would be used to fund future parkland acquisition and development within Robins. "Robins is 'missing out' on such opportunities," Goodin said, arguing the fee would provide a dedicated revenue stream for parks. Commission member CJ McDonald said that without revenue from such a fee the city would be forced to rely solely on property tax revenue to purchase and develop public land.
Goodin moved approval of Resolution No. 2025-11 recommending the Chapter 166 updates; CJ McDonald seconded and the motion passed on a unanimous roll call. The commission then approved Resolution No. 2025-12 recommending the final plat for McBurney’s Second Addition (motion by AJ Hester, second by Dennis Trachta), also by unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
