Board deadlocks on McGuire subdivision; parties agree to extension

The Silver Spring Township Board on Feb. 25 considered a preliminary/final subdivision application from David K. and Deborah A. McGuire for property on Konhaus Road. Light-Heigel & Associates presented the plan; adjoining property owners Kelly and James Wentz disputed the property line and easement location.
Multiple waiver requests were put to the Board and were denied after a tied 2–2 vote (Supervisors Brown and Potteiger in favor; Supervisors Lenker and Kotzmoyer opposed). The subsequent motion on the subdivision itself failed by the same 2–2 split. Solicitor Sean Shultz facilitated private discussions between the parties; the McGuires agreed to extend the review period until April 9, 2026 to allow both sides and counsel to negotiate a resolution. The Board voted to accept that extension.
Board members indicated willingness to reconsider the plan once outstanding boundary and easement issues are resolved and the parties have exchanged survey and legal information.
