Lincoln County appoints eight to DUI task force and names coordinator

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners voted Jan. 28 to appoint eight applicants to a reconstituted DUI task force and, on the committee’s recommendation, to name Kelsey Jean Meyer as coordinator.
County staff explained the action followed a resignation from the long‑time coordinator, Cindy Fuller, and a state recommendation to use a formal application process to set membership. Staff said the task force is a resource for training, overtime funding and coordination among law enforcement partners.
"DUI is a huge issue in Lincoln County," county staff said during the presentation, noting deputies and troopers conduct field tests daily and that greater coordination helps fund training and additional enforcement shifts.
The applicants listed by staff were Sarah Long; Travis Miller (chief of police, City of Troy, not present); Chief Urkin (City of Libby); Katie Davis (treatment court coordinator); Kelsey Jean Meyer (victim‑witness program — applied for the coordinator role); Andy Horton (Montana Highway Patrol sergeant); O'Neal (from the county attorney’s office); and Kathleen Sheffield (victim‑witness advocate). Commissioners voted to approve all eight applicants, then considered the committee’s recommendation and appointed Kelsey Jean Meyer as coordinator.
The board asked that the committee draft a coordinator contract for board approval, noting the previous contract was specific to Cindy Fuller.
