Commissioners directed park district representatives and staff to supply a clean draft of the ballot language to county staff by the end of the month so legal review and a resolution can be prepared. The board noted the levy would be in addition to the district's existing 0.5 mills and that the Libby Park District follows Libby School District boundaries.
Park representatives said the levy proceeds would enable the district to operate the aquatic facility to meet Montana health and safety requirements; commissioners asked staff to double-check the revenue estimates provided by the county assessor.
The board did not set a final election date at the meeting. Next steps are (1) final ballot language submitted to county staff, (2) legal review, and (3) formal resolution at a future commission meeting to place the question on the ballot.
