Salem Township supervisors approve routine business, advertise weight-restricted roads and note park master plan progress

At the July 17 meeting Salem Township supervisors approved routine administrative items, authorized advertisement of a weight-restricted roads ordinance, and heard a park-initiative update.

The board approved the minutes of the June 19 regular meeting and June 27 special meeting; both motions were made by Supervisor Kerry Jobe and seconded by Supervisor Bob Zundel with Supervisor Ken Trumbetta absent. The supervisors also approved monthly expenditures totaling $104,243.13 across multiple funds, including $39,868.06 in the General Fund and $48,031.04 in Payroll Fund; a resident raised questions about separate fuel invoices, which staff explained as separate invoices and older charges from Five Points.

The board approved a fireworks display permit for the Slickville Volunteer Fire Department and waived any permit fees, subject to the conditions listed in the motion. The board accepted Arlene Rosatti's letter of interest to serve as a consultant at $25 per hour.

Supervisors authorized preparation and advertisement of an ordinance to add the following roads to the township's official list of weight-restricted roads: Helen Drive (T741), Stony Springs Road (T794), Hillview Drive (T619), Long Plan Road (T674), Lake Drive (T676) and Walters Road (T933).

Park Initiative report: Supervisor Kerry Jobe said the pavilion has been rented most weekends through the summer, bookings are being taken for next year, and a new park Master Plan is being developed; an amphitheater was described as a long-term prospect. A letter of interest from Tim Kozinkq for a Recreation Board appointment was noted but not acted on because bylaw appointment rules involving the Greensburg Salem School District restrict appointments.
