County treasurer reports $122 million distributed; assessor office readies 2027 revaluation

Treasurer Branden Martin told the Ways and Means Committee on June 22 that distribution and tax payment processing completed since the prior meeting resulted in about $122 million being placed on the books and distributed to taxing districts. Martin said some districts were pleased to receive funds early and that the next distribution is scheduled for July 17. He also said his office implemented an additional paperless step expected to reduce paper usage and save space.
Supervisor of Assessments Chad Jones reported township assessors are turning in work and the office is preparing for the 2027 revaluation, which is the county’s four-year general reassessment cycle. Jones said the office is discussing updating cost tables in the valuation system with IT and the vendor for the camera/evaluation system. He also announced that Greg Fletcher departed the Board of Review after service since 2013 and that a candidate identified by county leadership will take the Illinois Department of Revenue test to be considered as a replacement; two remaining board review members are handling Property Tax Appeal Board (PTAB) cases.
No additional budget amendments or specific dollar impacts related to the revaluation or the paperless initiative were provided during the meeting.
