The Salem Township Planning Commission on Nov. 6 reviewed a proposed building addition and parking revisions for the Westmoreland County Food Bank (tax parcel 57-12-00-0-087) presented by surveyor Dan Irvin.
Commissioners required the revised site plan to show a 15‑foot rear/side yard setback and a 30‑foot front building setback from Devonshire Road and Cloverleaf Drive; to remove topographic contour lines for clarity; and to show the dimensions and area of the existing building and the proposed addition. The commission also requested detailed off‑street parking and loading information, including the number and size of spaces (minimum 9×20 feet), row widths (minimum 24 feet), and labeled loading docks and internal circulation patterns.
A plan note was required to clarify that Township approval does not legalize an existing "shed" encroachment onto an adjacent Rimco property and that encroachment remains a private matter between property owners. Stormwater management and erosion‑control plan approvals are required before final action.
Because the submittal lacked the required details, Paul Holleran moved and Connie Mattei seconded a motion to table the plan; the motion passed by majority vote.
