Salem Township supervisors approve routine minutes, donations and resolutions in unanimous votes

The Salem Township Board of Supervisors met Oct. 16 and unanimously approved several standard business items, including minutes from Sept. 18 and Sept. 24, monthly expenditures totaling $115,460, and a $1,000 donation to the Westmoreland County Food Bank.
The board also passed two resolutions: Resolution No. 27-2024, which amends fees for overweight vehicle permits pursuant to Ordinance No. 01-2024, and Resolution No. 28-2024, authorizing Salem to execute the First Amendment to a Consent Order and Agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and multiple municipal authorities and designating township representatives to sign on Salem's behalf.
Supervisors voted to advertise a special meeting to hire for a road‑crew position and to file Statewide Local Share Account (LSA) grant applications. The board authorized transferring $8,515 from the Special Projects account to the Sewage Revenue account to pay Morris Knowles for a Crabtree-area sewage feasibility study. The motion to transfer funds was made by Ken Trumbetta and seconded by Kerry Jobe; all three supervisors voted in favor.
The meeting also approved a $35,000 donation to the Slickville Volunteer Fire Department to help purchase a generator to serve as a warming and cooling station during power outages; Slickville previously received a $10,000 grant toward the same unit.
All routine motions recorded in the minutes passed unanimously. The board adjourned at 8:22 p.m. and scheduled a special meeting for Oct. 30, 2024, and its next regular meeting for Nov. 20, 2024.
