Ordinance No. 01‑2024: The board adopted an ordinance restating and affirming weight limits on township roads, roadways and bridges and incorporating prior amendments to the restricted roadways ordinance. The motion was made by Ken Trumbetta and seconded by Kerry Jobe and passed unanimously.
Employee health plan: The supervisors approved renewal of the township’s UPMC Health Plan effective Oct. 30, 2024, accepting an 8.4% increase in the monthly premium (from $12,174.07 to an estimated $13,199.96).
Volunteer fire departments: The board authorized annual Fire Tax contributions of $35,000 each to the Slickville and Forbes Road Volunteer Fire Departments, approved distribution of 25% of 2023 LST tax (total available $33,923.75; $16,961.87 each), and approved distribution of Commonwealth State Aid received in 2024 (total $41,015.61; $20,507.80 each).
Land‑use actions: The board approved (subject to enumerated conditions) Penn Home & Farm LLC’s request to add Lot 1 as an additional side yard for the Kilpatrick property, and approved a 2‑lot subdivision application filed by Florence Jean Artman and Sara Starrett that moves parcels between Salem Township and the Municipality of Murrysville. Conditions on both approvals included required plan revisions, agency (Township/SEO/DEP) approvals, showing pre/post acreage, and submission of a Sewage Planning Module where required. Planning Commission Chair Connie Mattei noted the Artman/Starrett application is legally complex because it spans two municipalities; final implementation depends on Murrysville approvals and required sewage documentation.
