Staff also briefed the board that the county's current email platform had reached end of life; Mr. Costin said the county would move to Microsoft's new online Exchange model under a state contract. Commissioners approved the budgeted purchase.
On a substantive regulatory change, the board adopted the 2026 Lowndes County Alcoholic Beverage Ordinance as presented. Ms. Black said the ordinance leaves beer and wine distance rules unchanged but increases the required setback for distilled spirits to 600 feet from any church building or 400 yards from any school building; Article 13 preserves existing establishments as long as their use remains unchanged. Ms. Black clarified the change applies to unincorporated areas of Lafayette.
