Cindy Courier, CO director, reviewed a summer schedule of Council on Aging programs and outreach opportunities, urging members to help publicize events.
Key items announced included a Father's Day event on Tuesday, June 16 (4:00 p.m.), a craft class on Wednesday, June 10, tech classes on June 18 and July 9, an Animal World Experience on July 23, an ice-cream social with a presentation on the Declaration of Independence on June 29, and a free hearing clinic run by New England Hearing Care on June 25. Traveling chef meals are scheduled for June 22 (breakfast for lunch) and July 20 (barbecue). The COA is also coordinating trips with Wolf Adventures and Tours, including outings to the Boston Public Library and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
Courier noted an event scheduling change: the Delvina Theater appearance originally listed for June moved to July 16 after a presenter conflict. Members discussed partnering with the library to attract broader audiences and suggested recording or streaming some presentations to reach residents who cannot attend in person. The board encouraged volunteers to help increase outreach and suggested pairing educational talks with meals to boost attendance.
