The Sac City Council met May 12 and, in a series of unanimous roll-call votes, approved a consent agenda that included liquor-license renewal, parade and noise permits for this summer’s Chautauqua Days and the Sac County Fair, and the list of vendor claims totaling $123,942.28.
Council President Mayor Scott Bundt presided at the meeting with council members Kayla Shull, Teresa Bruening, Tom Lownik and Bob Murley (by phone) recorded as present; Council member Mahler was absent. The consent agenda was moved by Council member Tom Lownik and seconded by Council member Teresa Bruening and passed on roll call.
Why it matters: The consent agenda bundles routine items that authorize seasonal events and vendor payments; approving these items clears the way for summer activities in Sac City and fulfills regular municipal financial and permitting duties.
Among routine actions, the council approved hiring Laila Meister and Caroline Mahler as lifeguards for the Aquatic Center. The motion to hire was made by Teresa Bruening and seconded by Kayla Shull; roll call recorded Ayes from Lownik, Murley, Shull and Bruening and Mahler absent.
On land and finance matters, the council adopted Resolution No. 2029-30, authorizing the sale of city-owned real estate by sealed bid and setting a public bid opening date. Tom Lownik introduced the measure and Teresa Bruening moved its adoption; the resolution passed by roll call vote with Mahler absent.
The council also approved forgiveness of special assessments on parcel numbers 810723101239 and 810723101240 contingent on the deed being recorded in Debbie Larsen’s name. The motion—introduced by Tom Lownik and seconded by Teresa Bruening—passed on roll call.
Finally, the council adopted Resolution No. 2026-29, authorizing the use of a Preliminary Official Statement and setting parameters for the acceptance and approval of a bond purchase agreement for General Obligation Corporate Purpose and Refunding Bonds, Series 2026; the resolution also authorizes the call of outstanding bonds. The resolution was introduced by Tom Lownik, moved by Teresa Bruening and approved on roll call.
The meeting record shows approval of claims that span multiple city funds, itemized in the meeting materials, including utility, road-use, fire, and capital-projects expenses. The council held its forum as noted in the minutes and adjourned at 5:40 p.m.
No public testimony, contested motions, or recorded dissents appear in the meeting text.
