Monticello Comm School District board approves multiple bids, schedules second budget hearing

MONTICELLO, Iowa — During its March 24, 2025 meeting, the Monticello Comm School District board voted unanimously to approve several procurement bids and scheduled a second public hearing on the 2025-26 certified budget.
Director Schlarmann moved and Director Rieken seconded to set April 28, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. as the date and time for the second public hearing on the certified budget; the motion passed with Ayes Norton, Schlarmann, Rieken and Amsler.
The board approved the following bids by unanimous votes:
- Carpet and tile for the high school from FloorShow for $124,545.00 (motion by Schlarmann, seconded by Rieken). - A 2022, 12-passenger van from Freese Motors for $37,000 with a $9,000 trade-in allowance (net $28,000) (motion by Amsler, seconded by Rieken). - A three-year internet services contract with Cascade Communications for $43,656; the district noted E‑rate is expected to cover 50% of that cost (motion by Schlarmann, seconded by Rieken). - Chromebook purchase from CDW Education for $96,250 (motion by Schlarmann, seconded by Rieken). - Network switches from Infrastructure Technology Solutions, LLC for $46,287.96, with E‑rate expected to cover 50% (motion by Amsler, seconded by Schlarmann).
Director Amsler moved and Director Rieken seconded approval of the consent agenda; that motion carried unanimously.
All recorded votes at the meeting were unanimous in favor: Ayes Norton, Schlarmann, Rieken and Amsler; no nays were recorded in the transcript.
The board adjourned the public meeting at 7:34 p.m. and moved into an exempt session.
