MONTICELLO, Iowa — On March 24, 2025, the Monticello Comm School District board received an updated timeline for financing the planned elementary school and reviewed revised floor plans and a conceptual exterior rendering.
Travis Squires, a representative of investment bank Piper Sandler, provided the board with an update on project financing and the anticipated timeline for securing funds for the elementary bond project. The presentation outlined next steps for moving the financing forward; no bond sale or final financing action was taken at the meeting.
Nick Duffy and Roger Worm of OPN Architects presented updated floor plans that reflect recent design choices and shared a conceptual view of what the building exterior could look like. Board members asked clarifying questions about design progress and efficiency; Superintendent Brian Jaeger said the elementary project update will be included on future agendas to address questions as the design work continues.
The presentations came during a regular board meeting presided over by Vice President Mandy Norton in President Craig Stadtmueller’s absence. Board members thanked staff and the architects for their work on the design and said they look forward to additional updates as the project advances.
Next procedural steps cited at the meeting included continued design refinement with OPN Architects and ongoing coordination with financial advisors ahead of future bond-related actions.
