The Monticello Community School District board approved two agreements with Kirkwood Community College at the July 28 meeting: a Memorandum of Understanding for the Workplace Learning Connection and a contract for 4+ Transitional Services.
Mark Rieken asked that the two Kirkwood items be removed from the consent agenda so each could be voted on separately. The board first considered the Memorandum of Understanding for the Workplace Learning Connection. A motion by Amsler, seconded by Norton, carried with four ayes (Schlarmann, Rieken, Amsler, Norton) and one abstention (Board President Craig Stadtmueller).
The board then voted on the contract for 4+ Transitional Services with Kirkwood Community College. A motion by Norton, seconded by Amsler, carried with the same voting pattern: four ayes and one abstention by Stadtmueller.
Minutes record the board's votes and abstentions but do not state a reason for the president's abstentions. Both agreements were approved and will proceed through district administrative steps for implementation. The board approved the rest of the consent agenda items subsequently by unanimous vote.
The agreements were added to the district's consent items after separate consideration and do not by themselves change existing district policy. Staff will manage contract execution and report back on implementation as needed.
