Monticello schools celebrate Class of 2025, state qualifiers and multiple MS/HS track records

Board members and principals recognized Class of 2025 graduates, SODA students who won Iowa State University PSA awards, numerous middle-school and high-school track records and state qualifiers, and thanked volunteers for hosting events.
The Monticello Community School District used its May 19 meeting to recognize student and team accomplishments across grade levels.
The board congratulated the Class of 2025 and highlighted SODA members Cole Bouska, Carlos Lagunes-Torres and Caleb Tubbs for winning first place in both the Radio and Video divisions of Iowa State University’s Lights! Camera! Prevention! PSA Competition. Elementary, middle and high school principals reported multiple athletic achievements: Kenya Davis-Robinson broke the long jump record at 16' 3.5" and set school records in the 100m and relays; middle school and junior teams broke several conference and school relay and medley records; Mary Grace Lyons finished 2nd at the Middle School State Track meet in the 1500m.
Elementary Principal Shannon Kehoe praised staff and cited improved attendance: "this year our average daily attendance has been 96.2% and at Carpenter 96.6%." High School Principal Nick Schauf thanked volunteers after the district-hosted track meet and reminded the community of scheduled senior events leading to graduation on May 25.
The recognitions were presented as announcements and did not require board action. The applause and formal congratulations closed the achievement items before the meeting moved on to routine business.
