Mead Johnson's Division Street vacation request referred to Planning Commission

The City Council on Feb. 16 voted to refer Mead Johnson LLC's request to vacate a dead-end portion of North Division Street to the Planning Commission for review in accordance with the city's established procedure.
Community Development Director Tim Maday said Mead Johnson purchased parcels bordering the short block of North Division Street to unify its site for planned manufacturing modernizations and expansions. Because the segment in question is a dead-end and is bordered entirely by property owned by Mead Johnson, the company indicated in its Feb. 6 request that it did not believe a traffic study was warranted.
Maday told council staff does not anticipate a traffic study is necessary based on current configuration and use, but the Planning Commission will determine whether additional analysis is needed and could hold a public hearing before forwarding a recommendation to council. The Planning Commission is expected to first consider the request at its March 5, 2026 meeting.
