The Zeeland Common Council on Feb. 16 approved contracting with Williams & Works, Inc. to lead an 18-month comprehensive master plan rewrite, establishing a project budget of $54,181 that includes a $49,255 not-to-exceed agreement plus a 10% contingency.
Community Development Director Tim Maday said the City solicited nine proposals and selected Williams & Works as the best fit for public engagement, future land-use review and implementation planning. The Planning Commission reviewed the proposal on Feb. 5 and formally endorsed Williams & Works, indicating a preference to lead the project rather than establish a separate steering committee.
The consultant’s scope includes an online community survey, two visioning workshops and a community open house. Maday said the process is intended to produce a complete rewrite to guide land use and development for the next decade; staff will hold a kickoff meeting with the Planning Commission and consultant team as the next step.
Council approved the contract and project budget unanimously.
