Mount Vernon — The City Council on Feb. 3 authorized several infrastructure and facility expenditures, approving a professional-services agreement, equipment purchase and an emergency repair payment.
Council approved a Professional Services Agreement with Dixon Engineering for $5,525 to prepare specifications and oversee exterior cleaning of the municipal water tower; the vendor will prepare cleaning specifications and manage the work. Councilmember Rose moved to approve the agreement and Councilmember Andresen seconded; the motion carried.
Council also approved purchase and installation of two dual-walled fuel tanks at the new Public Works facility to centralize fueling and reduce reliance on credit-card purchases. The total for the tanks was $15,000; Councilmember Engel moved and Councilmember West seconded the motion to approve the purchase.
Following emergency damage at the police station soffits that led to frozen water lines, council approved payment to Septagon Construction not to exceed $7,971.07 for emergency soffit repairs. Councilmember West made the motion and Councilmember Rose seconded.
Each item was approved by council motion and recorded as "motion carries" in the minutes. Implementation steps include issuing contracts and completing installation and repair work under the approved budget amounts.
