Mount Vernon — The Mount Vernon City Council approved the Claims List on Feb. 3, covering $644,160.86 in invoices and payroll and moved to set a public hearing to accept bids for the old Public Works shop at 1040 2nd Ave NW.
The largest single invoice was a $379,388.63 pay application to Woodruff Construction related to pool renovation work. Payroll for the period totaled $113,301.45. Fund totals presented included allocations to pool renovations, road use, general, sewer, the LBC, water and public-works facilities; the meeting packet lists Rachel Street/Kwik Star charges at $9,198.00 within the claims.
Council approved Resolution #2-3-2025E to set a March 3 public hearing on the sale of the old Public Works site; the resolution establishes a minimum bid equal to the appraised value, $295,000, and requires sealed bids submitted to City Hall by 4 p.m. on Feb. 28, 2025. The motion to set the hearing was made by Councilmember Rose and seconded by Councilmember Engel.
Council also approved Resolution #2-3-2025A to provide a local match (up to $8,250) for an architectural study tied to a potential Hazard Mitigation Assistance safe-room grant for the LBC addition. All motions and roll-call votes recorded as "all yes" where noted in the minutes.
The council did not take final action tonight on the temporary easement related to the Kwik Star project; that resolution was tabled.
