The Mount Vernon City Council on Jan. 20 took several routine actions: it approved the consent agenda (including appointment of Jennifer Lee, Michelle Omar, Lori Lynch and Doug Shannon to LMVAS), approved the claims list and vendor payments contained in the council packet, rescheduled the Feb. 17 council meeting to Feb. 19 and added the Jewish American Heritage flag to the ceremonial flag policy for May.
Andresen had requested the flag-policy item be reconsidered; council agreed to add the Jewish American Heritage flag for the month of May. Council members noted that adding a third flag in May will require rearranging which flags are displayed on certain days.
Council received and filed regular departmental reports (Mt. Vernon/Lisbon Police; Public Works; Parks & Rec; Cole Library). Mayor Thomas M. Wieseler reported attending a legislative update; Engel reported he will assume leadership of the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Childcare Solutions group for the next year. The meeting adjourned at 7:08 p.m.
