State awards $1.8M for Colonia overpass rehabilitation; township wins $1.5M park grant

Harris said the township was selected by the Garden State Preservation Trust to receive a $1.5 million grant to develop a two-acre park at the former School 14 site on Ford Avenue and Main Street. The park plan described by Harris includes a fully accessible playground, a walking and running track and an outdoor fitness area; the grant still requires legislative approval.
Harris also said the New Jersey Department of Transportation awarded a $1.8 million grant to Middlesex County to rehabilitate the concrete overpass on New Dover Road in Colonia, a structure the council member said is visibly in need of repair. The council member framed the awards as improvements to parks and infrastructure that will be implemented through county and township partners.
Other community announcements included a Bass Pro Shop hiring event on June 24-25 and the township's Juneteenth celebration scheduled for June 27 behind Woodbridge High School.
