The Sheldon City Council voted to accept a donated grain vac and trailer from the Farm Bureau Federation for the Sheldon Fire Department.
Brad Hen explained the donation’s background and logistics: Farm Bureau representatives had discussed gifting the grain vac and trailer, which have been purchased and which the donor is preparing for transfer. The city will be responsible for insurance and maintenance; the Fire Department has voted in favor of accepting the equipment, and would operate it under mutual-aid requests from incident commanders. "They have the grain vac purchased. They're working on the trailer right now," Brad Hen told the council.
The council moved and approved the resolution by roll call. Staff noted the only recurring costs to the city would be insurance and maintenance; the department and the city will retain operational control over the donated equipment.
