Malden planning board recommends City Council approve conditional use for parking lot at 609 N. Marion St.

The Malden Planning & Zoning Board voted 5-0 on Jan. 8, 2025, to recommend that the Malden City Council approve a conditional use allowing a parking lot to be constructed at 609 N. Marion St. as an addition to an existing commercial structure at 610 N. Douglass St.

Board President Jerry Smith opened a public hearing at the Malden Community Center at noon. The application, described in the hearing notice as pertaining to Nellie Mason, Lot 8 (609 N. Marion St.), was presented as submitted on behalf of Dunklin County Transit. No members of the public attended or offered comments; the hearing record shows no public testimony and was adjourned at 12:05 p.m.

Immediately following the hearing, the board held a special called meeting. After confirming roll call and noting no public comments had been received, Board Member Walker Culp moved to recommend City Council approval of the conditional-use application; Mayor Denton Kooyman seconded the motion.
