Coventry Cemetery Commission approves April minutes and a cremains burial, notes upkeep projects and wreath event

At its May 21 meeting the Coventry Cemetery Commission recorded several formal approvals and routine reports.

The commission approved the April meeting minutes by a 5-0 vote. The Sexton reported one interment on May 2, 2026 for Donald Aitken (Pelkey family plot, Lot D; cremains). There were no lot sales or new monument markers reported.

An application from Benitta Plaster Morgan to bury the cremains of Vicki E. (Perry) Plaster in the Strack/Plaster family plot in Grant Hill Cemetery was reviewed and approved by the commission; the minutes record the proposed burial for Friday, June 12, 2026, the commission vote was 5-0, and Chair Kevin Arpin signed the application.

Old-business items included a recap of a presentation Kevin Arpin and Claudine Vieten made to the Town Council finance committee (Kevin will follow up with Robyn), notification attempts to the Sanborn family about allowing cement blocks between headstones (Kevin left a voicemail), and confirmation that all upright hooks have been removed and will be stored by staff until about July 15. Public Works listed ongoing projects including tree and shrub removal at Grant Hill, leveling at Coventry Cemetery, paving the Grant Hill entrance, knotweed control, and planning for a wall repair at Nathan Hale Cemetery.

The commission also noted 42 rollover wreaths for Wreaths Across America and set the event date for December 19, 2026. The agenda included a possible executive session, but no executive-session business was recorded in the minutes.
