The Board of Selectmen discussed an urgent procurement need tied to a $250,000, one-year grant for playground improvements. Members said Millennial Builders is prepared to purchase equipment if the town issues a purchase order (PO) and bonds the project; contractors warned prices will increase in early December and a PO would protect the town from a 10% price jump.
Staff reported that two quarters have already passed on certain reimbursements and that the town could seek about $125,000 in reimbursement once administrative paperwork is submitted. Board members instructed staff to work with the contractor to prepare a PO and to pursue a special meeting if necessary to approve signatures and the PO so the contractor can proceed in time to avoid price escalation.
A board member said they had spoken with Craig from Millennial Builders, who told staff the company can procure equipment on a PO and bond the project but needs the town to formalize the PO quickly. The board asked Jim and Chris to coordinate timing and, if needed, schedule a short special meeting next week to authorize the purchase.
