American Heart Association celebrates districtfundraising milestone and promotes hands-only CPR training

Carrie Bockard, school engagement director for the American Heart Association, presented the Kids Heart Challenge to the Hillsboro R3 Board and thanked volunteers and staff for program support. She highlighted the AHAstatewide work to support cardiac-emergency-response plans and that the Missouri legislature recently required such plans; the AHA has partnered with Project ADAM and the Missouri EMS to provide templates and resources.
Bockard said three Hillsboro schools raised a combined total that put the district over the $500,000 milestone for contributions to the American Heart Association and noted that funds raised support local PE equipment and nationwide research and education. She also emphasized hands-only CPR training for students and shared a brief student story of bystander CPR learned through school programming.
Board members and the audience acknowledged the milestone with applause. The presentation required no board action.
