The Waukesha Plan Commission unanimously recommended rezoning a 0.61‑acre city parcel on Big Bend Road from T1 (temporary) to RS3 (single‑family) to enable two homes associated with Operation Finally Home, and approved a two‑lot certified survey map splitting the property.
Doug presented the request, saying Operation Finally Home will work with Bellman Homes to develop two single‑family homes on the parcel. He noted the parcel is an isolated city island surrounded by village single‑family homes and that RS3 zoning is consistent with the city land use plan. "At this time we would be recommending approval of the rezoning from T1 temporary to RS3 single family district, for Operation Finally Home Project along Big Bend Road," Doug said.
Brian Peel, representing Bellman Homes (SEH), identified himself and said he lives in the city and was available to answer questions. Commissioners asked clarifying questions about unplatted lands and village adjacency; Doug explained the parcel is city land and not subject to village approval. Commissioner Moulton moved to recommend rezoning to the Common Council with staff comments; the motion carried unanimously. The commission also recommended approval of the two‑lot CSM to the Common Council.
Next steps: both the rezoning and the CSM will be forwarded to the Common Council for public hearing and final action.
