Macksburg council approves agenda and consent items; sets follow-ups for March

The Macksburg City Council met Feb. 3, 2025, at City Hall and unanimously approved the meeting agenda and the consent agenda, which included the Jan. 6 council minutes, the January 2025 Treasurer Report and February bills to be paid.
Mayor Kevin Jackson presided. Council Member Matt Owens moved to approve the agenda; Jimi Davis seconded the motion and it carried with ayes. Owens again moved to approve the consent agenda; Davis seconded and the motion passed with ayes.
City Clerk/Treasurer Tricia Gardner presented the January treasurer report showing a total closing balance of $392,547.70 across checking, savings and CDs. The council heard a brief public forum introduction from citizen Mitch Johnson, who identified himself as the city's new emergency management contact.
Council members noted several items to return to the March 3 meeting, including a proposal to increase the City Clerk/Treasurer's quarterly pay and a discussion about whether council members should be compensated for performing city maintenance work. No votes were taken on those items at the Feb. 3 meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for March 3, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Macksburg City Hall.
