Ansonia Board of Education elects officers, reaffirms Robert's Rules of Order

Superintendent Joe DiBacco called the Ansonia Board of Education's organizational meeting to order on Jan. 15, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. in the Mead School Cafeteria and asked the board to appoint Cassie Venson as temporary recording secretary.
During the meeting the board moved through its annual organizational business and approved a slate of officers. Beth LaBerge nominated Rich Bshara for president; the motion to elect Mr. Bshara carried unanimously, recorded as five yes votes, no votes and no abstentions. Mr. Bshara was then nominated and elected as president by the board.
Mr. Bshara nominated Chris Phipps for vice president; with no other nominations the board approved Mr. Phipps by unanimous vote. Tracey DeLibero nominated Beth LaBerge for secretary, and the motion to elect LaBerge also passed unanimously.
The board considered rules of order for the coming year. "We currently follow Robert's Rules of Order," Mr. Bshara said, and the board voted to continue following Robert's Rules by unanimous motion.
President Bshara moved to appoint Cassie Venson as Recording Secretary (permanent appointment). The motion passed with five yes votes and no opposition. Board President Bshara reviewed the list of committee appointments and said any changes could be made at a later date; no committee changes were proposed during the meeting.
The board approved a motion to adjourn at 6:34 p.m. The minutes were signed by Cassie Venson and dated Jan. 21, 2025.
