Ansonia honors Teacher of the Year Christine Davis and Paraprofessional Luis Gomes

At its Sept. 18 meeting the Ansonia Board recognized Christine Davis, Ansonia High School English lead, as 2025 Teacher of the Year and Luis Gomes of Mead School as 2025 Paraprofessional of the Year.
The Ansonia Board of Education presented its Chargers Champions awards Sept. 18 to Christine Davis of Ansonia High School (2025 Teacher of the Year) and Luis Gomes of Mead School (2025 Paraprofessional of the Year).
Mrs. Sara Crooks introduced Davis and told the board that colleagues, including Mr. Giansanti, praised Davis as a dedicated teacher, English lead and Master Teacher who continually seeks new ways to connect with students. Crooks presented Davis with the award and a jacket; the board thanked her for her work.
Crooks described Mr. Gomes as kind and positive, noted he has served the district five years, and said principals and the Special Education director consider him a strong influence for students. Gomes received the Chargers Champions award and jacket; the board congratulated him.
The board recorded the recognitions during the meeting’s opening segment and expressed appreciation for both staff members.
