Council unanimously approves new police scheduling system contract with InTime

The Common Council unanimously approved a contract for the Police Department to adopt InTime, a cloud‑based scheduling and workforce management system intended to replace multiple legacy tools.
Assistant Chief Ty Hoffman said the department currently uses several disconnected systems to schedule officers, track minimum staffing, submit payroll and manage court notices. InTime will consolidate those functions, reduce supervisory time spent on scheduling, and provide an app officers can use for shift changes and notifications. "If we are approved for the InTime contract, that would take those five systems and reduce it down to two," Hoffman said, arguing the change will improve efficiency while costing roughly the same as the current aggregate expense.
Council members asked about pricing and support. Staff said there is an initial implementation cost plus an annual support fee for the cloud service; upgrades and updates are included with annual support. The council moved and approved the contract unanimously.
Next steps: staff will finalize contract execution and schedule implementation with training for officers.
