A Macksburg property owner asked the City Council on Oct. 6 to consider abandoning a 12‑foot‑wide alley that runs east–west between East Street and West Street across Lots 6–8, Block 1 in the Town of Macksburg, Madison County. Resident Greg Hilsebeck raised the request during the public forum. The council voted to set a public hearing for Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Macksburg City Hall to consider the proposed alley abandonment.
Council Member Jimi Davis moved to set the hearing; Council Member Matt Owens seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The hearing will provide neighbors and other interested parties an opportunity to comment before the council takes any final action. The minutes do not specify the legal mechanism, notice requirements, or potential conditions that would apply to an abandonment; those details will be part of the public‑hearing record and any staff report prepared for Nov. 3.
The council encouraged public attendance at the scheduled hearing. No final determination was made at the Oct. 6 meeting.
